Our Mission
The Idil Biret Education Initiative (IBEI) is a Pennsylvania 501(c)(3) nonprofit established to preserve, publish, and promote the humanistic legacy of pianist Idil Biret by supporting education in music, art, and literature.
Our mission unfolds in two core areas:

- Supporting the next generation of young musicians through educational materials inspired by İdil Biret’s legacy, mentorship, and international study grants.
- Publishing and promoting works by and about outstanding youth in the arts, ensuring their voices and stories inspire future generations.
Rooted in İdil Biret’s values of empathy, discipline, and beauty, we connect cultures and generations through educational programs, archives, and storytelling.
What We Do
Your membership and donations support our initiatives:
- Digitize and make public İdil Biret’s recordings, scores, and archival materials
- Publish books, essays, and educational content about women in the arts
- Provide international study grants for outstanding young women in music
- Develop teaching materials rooted in Biret’s artistic legacy

Preservation of Musical Heritage
We actively safeguard Idil Biret’s invaluable contributions to classical music by preserving rare recordings, personal archives, and historical artifacts.
Archival and Cultural Projects
We are working with the Idil Biret Foundation in Istanbul to digitize and share historical materials — including correspondence with world leaders, rare recordings, and documentation of Turkey’s cultural renaissance.

- The Idil Biret Museum Project: Supporting Istanbul's Idil Biret Museum, a living space for music appreciation, education, and performance.
- Educational Resource Development: Providing master class materials, music education opportunities, and new learning resources for students and teachers.
- Publishing New Works: Literary Publishing: Essays, books, and digital media on music, art, and literature.
